The 16th Annual Creek County Spelling Bee Benefits Creek County Literacy Program
Sapulpa’s most fun and entertaining event is just days away – the Creek County Literacy Program’s Annual Spelling Bee is Thursday April 3, 6:30pm at Sapulpa High School Commons. Back for the 16th year, this year’s event looks like it may be one of the program’s most successful Spelling Bees on record!
It’s Time for you to BEE Back in School is this year’s theme. “Corporate teams will come dressed in costume,” explained Melissa Struttmann, Executive Director of Creek County Literacy Program. “We are seeing lots of fun and imaginative team names and are looking forward to seeing the costumes – they’re running the gamut of popular teen movies to catholic schools!”
Attendees will enjoy a great dinner, silent auction, door prizes and greatly anticipated Spelling Bee. Raffle prizes include an OU football autographed by Coach Stoops and a Kindle Paperwhite. There are many silent auction baskets, and the live auction items include four Disney Theme Park Tickets. Spanish Jack’s Fine Foods is donating $5 from each $10 BBQ sold at the Bee.
Tad Lemire of Mix 96 Tulsa – the Tad & Lindsay Show in the Morning – will serve as emcee. Sponsors include American Heritage Bank, Tulsa Freightliner, Krumme Oil and OG&E.
Money raised from the Spelling Bee furthers the Mission, which is to encourage, educate and equip aspiring readers to overcome the barriers of illiteracy. This fundraiser makes up approximately 9% of CCLP’s annual operating budget. CCLP is accepting auction items and sponsorships. Join us as a Bee Keeper – Spectators are invited to show their support for only $35!
Who will prevail this year and take home the top prize? Find out on April 3 as teams compete for bragging rights and win the 2014 Spelling Bee.
